Mid-Week Style Inspiration

Nom nom nom! My Pinterest feed has been looking decidedly delicious of late. Cross body bags, cool neutrals and nifty pony-tails have been brightening my monitor and just about inspiring me to pull myself off the sofa (must really end serious relationship with said sofa). I am head over heels in lust with the look above and wonder if it would be ridiculous to wear a hat like that in Winter. Perhaps not, given the state of the ozone layer over Australia, but I think that I would probably still feel like a bit of a douche regardless, which is a shame because that really is a lovely hat and 6 months is quite a long time to wait to put one on.

It's such a tease to see Americans easing into their Summer gear while we are sighing and pulling our warm fluffies out of storage, but most of these looks would be do-able for Aussie winter with the addition of a leather jacket or smart blazer. I'll give our seasons this much - though we seem to lag behind the states in a lot of ways, we can usually get through winter without much more than a pair of tights and a cardigan, making Sydney fashion quite seasonally fluid, which is always nice and helps just a tad with the Winter blues. Oh, and it certainly makes a capsule wardrobe more achievable as most pieces can be worn year-round. Well, with the exception of the hat in my case. Perhaps.

I really do like the hat.

Memory Lane

Now, it's not Thursday but I am offering up a bit of a throwback regardless.

These images are from 2010 and were shot by my little sisters Cate and Mary (you can see Mary in the shot below). I'm wearing clothes that I raided from Cate's wardrobe at the time and those amazing sunglasses were also Cate's - a London purchase if I recall correctly. Unfortunately, recalling correctly is not one of my strong points and as such I can't remember a single brand name of a single item worn. This fashion anonymity somehow contributes to the sentimental value of these shots for me though, as while the glasses are phenomenal and the dress is stunning, when I look at these pictures I smile not because these are spectacular fashion shots and rather because they remind me of a very special day with my sisters. It is for this reason that I am offering them up on the blog - hopefully that happiness shines on out and someone else can feel it through their monitor.

Love you, my sisters.

PS. What on earth was going on with my fringe/bangs in 2010? My word...

Nailing It: My Kind of Neutral

I'm in all kinds of lust with these incredible black, white and nude nails. In fact, I'm kind of wishing that I hadn't just painted mine earlier this evening so that I could attempt one of these looks. I'm probably more suited artistically to the single coat of polish school of nail painting, but give me a couple of hours and a galleon of remover and I may just be in with a chance. Those neutral beauties in the center are simply amazing. I knew that there was a reason that I needed three different nude tones of polish! What do we think of these stunning neutral nails for the upcoming chilly months?
